FtrPilot
Having spent the last couple of days in a very hot garage, I can see adding some kind of air conditioning to my garage in the future. Until then: It was 97* and 90+% humidity outside here yesterday. And so was my shop. I hate you. +1
elrodk
In my book ac is one of the best investments for your shop if you live in a hot humid climate. It makes a huge difference in the quality of your shop time and your tools and materials will enjoy it just as much. Much better for finishing too. Coop
To those that have a/c in your shop, do you leave it on 24/7 or just when you're in it?
Brendon_t
The last week has tested my resolve. It's been 88-90* in my garage. At HD yesterday, I saw a nice contained unit for $189. So tempting

Larry Moore
To those that have a/c in your shop, do you leave it on 24/7 or just when you're in it? 24/7 I want to keep the humidity down.
Eric.
To those that have a/c in your shop, do you leave it on 24/7 or just when you're in it? If I left my shop AC running 24/7, I'd be facing a divorce come electric bill time. I turn mine on in the morning to get a head-start before the heat of the day. By afternoon on really hot days, it's struggling to keep the shop cool...but I'm not entirely insulated yet. I don't really see the need to run 24/7...the humidity is sucked out of the air in about a half hour...keeping it cool is a different ballgame. Larry Moore
Eric How many sq. feet is your shop? I would think that would make a big difference.

Tom Cancelleri
24/7 I want to keep the humidity down. I set my AC to go on at around 11am before the heat really picks up. I shut it when I leave the shop at night and then set the timer again to go on around 11.
Larry Moore
Well maybe I should be shutting it down at night. Mine is about 580 sg Ft and I have been pulling about 5 gallons of water from 6pm to noon
