Creating a barn wood shower wall

Hi, I'm looking to create a bran wood shower wall...trying to achieve what people use tile but with wood.

I would love to keep the raw wood finish.

 

I thought about using cpes to soak my wood in but it will come expensive and then a arm and seal coat has finishing.

 

What other option should I have?

 

I dont need weather strong other than water on the wood.

 

I plan to do tongue and groove to make sure the water doesnt go behind.

I would use tile glue and screw to seal it to the wall make sure no air left behind.

And probably use grout to fill any hole in the wood

 

Any suggestion or concern?

I really don't think this is a good idea. You are guaranteed to see some mold and mildew and finish failure.

I'd save the barnwood for outside of the shower.

so the only way wood be to destroy the look and go epoxy and couple of layer to entirely seal the wood?

You are going to have mold, mildew and rot... You can not get that to work for more than 1 year before failure!

buy tile that looks like wood.  there are literally dozens of types and they actually quite a lot like the real thing.

Or another option would be to build the wall how you want, then contact a glass company and put a sheet of shower glass over it.

The wood would be protected but you would have a beautiful wall for a long time
