Denette
Sorry for posting two topics back to back like this, but it seems like these are two discrete topics. I'm trying to figure out exactly which jointer to get for my garage shop. I'm planning on going with Grizzly because they seem like the best bang for my buck. I'm going with an 8" jointer with straight, traditional knives, assuming that if I make enough cash I can pop in a helical cutter later on. Inexplicably, the Grizzly "Polar Bear" line is always a little cheaper, so I'll go with the white paint where it's available. Even in this range, however, there are still a couple of options. Kudos to Grizzly for having a diverse lineup. Should I go with this one: http://grizzly.com/products/8-x-72-Jointer-3-HP-w-Mobile-Base-Polar-Bear-Series/G0656P Or this one (oddly, no Polar Bear series of this model): http://grizzly.com/products/8-Jointer-with-Parallelogram-Beds/G0490 ? In other words, what are the advantages of parallelogram beds? Is there some performance benefit, or is the less expensive model just as good as the more expensive one? Thanks for the help, guys.
