trz
I stored a half a quart of shellac in a quart mason jar for about a month, stored it upside down thinking if the seal wasn't perfect it would prevent the alcoholic from evaporating. Oh, does anyone know how to get the lid off a mason jar of shellac? Arggh!
Tpt life
If it is shellac sealed, turn it lid down in a slightly larger diameter container of alcohol for a soak. Edit: changed lager to larger. Freudian...?

trz
I had already done exactly as Shaffer has advised, will check it in a bit. The others seem to be very good options though! Spinach sounds good!!!
Rapid Roger
OK, Now that the lid is off, clean the threads on the lid and jar well and wrap a layer or two of Teflon pipe thread tape around the jar threads for future removal ease. TerryMcK
Toss it into the trash and buy another mason jar

trz
Hammer, 5 gallon bucket, filter, heavy gloves......... Last resort. If I was desperate for that last half quart of shellac that would be an option! Soaked it upside down in DNA and it came right off.
wdwerker
I learned to wipe the threads/ lip/ rim / lid with a clean rag and the appropriate solvent when sealing containers. Especially sticky stuff like lacquer , shellac and even glue bottles.
