bob493
Looking to step up my hand game a tad... can someone recommend a cost effective decent plane for a shooting board? I have pretty large hands, so those little guys dont work so well for me...

Eric.
What Pug said ^^^. Unless you're gonna buy a dedicated shooter, a low angle jack is probably your best bet. That way it won't sit in your cabinet 360 days out of the year because you can't use it for anything else...very versatile plane and everyone should have at least one low angle plane to work end grain with. But the shooters are awesome if you have the disposable cash.
Brendon_t
I don't shoot boards but I do use my lajp for a bunch of things. It feels like it tackles end grain better than my block plane
Tpt life
Change your spelling to chute and look for a Stanley 51 if the LAJ thought doesn't square with you.
Gilgaron
Don't the vintage ones usually run for more than the LN and LV?

Tom King
Don't the vintage ones usually run for more than the LN and LV? That's one of the reasons the only new plane I own is the LV shooter.
missioninwood
Check out the No. 62 from Wood River. I use an original 62 for most of my shooting. This plane, with it's bevel up configuration and beefy iron, will prove both a versatile and effective all around use and shooting plane.miw
