alindsey
My mother asked me for a small side table that she could place next to a chair to hold her books when she's reading & writing in her journal. I had free rein on the design, some cool veneer and a new vacuum press so I did a few sketches and got to building. The top is big-leaf maple burl veneer, edged in ebonized maple & solid maple trim. The base and legs are walnut. The base was turned on a lathe and the legs sawn to rough shape then sculpted and shaped by hand with spokeshaves. Finish is 4 coats of sprayed-on Enduro-Var. Well Allan, my first reaction was WOW! and my second reaction was WOW! The first WOW was for your table which is beautiful. The second WOW was for the floor it is sitting on. Great job on the table.
