Jeremy Carlsten
Hey guys, thought I might share my 2x4 benches my wife insisted that I build. They are based heavily on an Anna white design I believe. This was my first large sized project and I had a bit of a time constraint since our chairs were literally falling to pieces but I got them done. I decided to alter the design to stray from pocket holes as much as I could. There are a few gaps in my joints but overall the mrs. thinks they are the greatest thing since sliced bread and that's what matters ...Whoa messy shop... shaneymack
Good job Jeremy. What joinery did you use instead of pocket holes?
Jeremy Carlsten
Well I wound up caving on the tops and just reinforced them with some makeshift pocket holes(don't own the jig) Otherwise the cross support is a glorified half lap and the others are just butt joints reinforced with screws. As much as I would have loved to try out some mortise and tenon joints I didn't have the time. Maybe on the next set! I've had a few people say they would like a set.
