Popular Post thewoodwhisperer
In another thread, folks were inquiring about the rules concerning linking to your own website. Those rules have always been posted in the Posting Guidelines (you can find this link at the bottom right of the forum): http://www.woodtalkonline.com/index.php?app=forums&module=extras§ion=boardrules You ARE allowed to link to relevant content on your own website as long as the link is accompanied with an adequate answer to the person's question. Here are two examples: "Here's a link to my website that will answer your question: LINK" <--- Not OK "Hi, I'm answering your question briefly (perhaps even copy/pasting text from my website) making sure you have the info you asked for. If you'd like greater detail on this topic, check out my blog post: LINK" <-- OK Now keep in mind this still isn't a simple black and white thing. If a person gets into the habit of providing a one sentence answer and then throwing in a link, that might get flagged eventually. Yes it satisfies the "rule" but it's clearly not within the spirit of the rule. So the mods will do their best to make that call when the time comes, based on the situation at hand and the people involved. Please understand that this is not an attempt to lock in traffic as it usually is in other forums. This forum makes just enough money to pay for itself and that's good enough for me. The point is to prevent the forum from becoming a bed of links with little/no actual info. I hope this clears things up. Thanks for keeping it awesome!

thewoodwhisperer
Has anyone ever used that adjective to describe AZ? Might be a first.
Brendon_t
I lived in Avondale in school. It was nice back then.
RichardA
I always loved Arizona, the best view I got there was in my rearview mirror!

Tpt life
My memories of AZ are my grandad's place. Hard to have a bad memory of that. Thanks for the words Marc, both the good reminder of rules already posted and the quick clarification of intent.
Eric.
I hear it's a dry heat. Classy or not, that makes it better than Missouri. Nicole knows. And you have cacti. Cacti are pretty cool. And scorpions. And petrified things. Petrified things are cool.
Coop
I too am petrified of cacti and scorpions

wtnhighlander
Arizona = cool, for very large values of latitude in Arizona. I really like the AZ / NM border region.
davewyo
Um...the Grand Canyon is in Arizona ya know. Boating the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon is a trans-formative experience. Try it; you will not be disappointed. Flagstaff=nice college town with lots of history Mogollon Rim=rugged wild country Saguaro National Monument=pretty cool place Pheonix=ouch! I'm stuck in traffic Organ Pipe National Monument= incredibly beautiful harsh desert/almost Mexico Monument Valley= the place you think of when you think "John Wayne Western" Tombstone=Tombstone (you know...OK Corral?, one of the greatest silver mines in the US?, Boot Hill?) thewoodwhisperer
I notice that all the folks who are making favorable comments about Arizona don't actually live here. Honestly, I can see what some people might like it here and it's not without fun places to visit. But it's just not a place I personally enjoy living. I vaguely remember something about you being originally from Jersey. Would definitely make sense why in some of your earlier videos you're using a NY Giants hammer. Go Giants! Sorry the New Yorker in me kicked in, but I digress. Given the name Spagnuolo, Giants new/old Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, any relation, or sheer happenstance? Where would you consider the "perfect" place to live?
Strasberry
I picked up a horse in Scottsdale a couple years ago. 100 plus in the shade if you could find any. Never got below about 90 over night. Very glad to head back to Oregon. My Grandson who is in the USMC is stationed in Yuma where he sent me a picture of the thermometer in his barracks 106 at 10:00 PM. Never liked that much heat!!! thewoodwhisperer
Then why do you? /confused The same reason most people live in a place that isn't their ideal place to live: reality. We do plan to move at some point, but now just isn't the right time.

Spagnuolo actually turned out to be a much more popular last name than I would have assumed pre-internet. In fact, there's a Marc Spagnuolo who lives in Scottsdale and we had our accounts mixed up at the local Woodworker's Source store. Odd. As for the ideal place to live, that's something we ponder all the time. I still like Winter but I can't stand high heat and humidity. There are various places in Colorado that are appealing to me. But it's a big country. I'm sure there are lots of places I'd like better than AZ.

Odd. I'm sure any wood working place he goes with an audience under 40, he gets word looks. This could also be that Marc (as we know him) is in fact not the actual wood whisperer but an actor hired as the face.. I love a good conspiracy.
