Popular Post ..Kev
As stated in my chair thread, it was time to make a major overhaul in my shop. The recent equipment additions meant that there was no more floor space. So, since I have options, it was time to make the move.As most of you know, I built my shop originally as a recording studio. I took the main room for my shop and gave up the old control room to my wife for a quilting room. I kept the office as a reloading room. The drum room and large guitar room were relegated to storage as well as the vocal booth. The other 10 X 12 room was turned into a general work area for working on the cars, metal work, etc.. My 2 car garage is attached so, this just worked out well. This is where the dust collector and air compressor live and work off of remote.Anyway, here is what my shop looks like now.. I don't think I could break down lumber in there right now! This is after clearing out the new space. The room I'm expanding to is right off my shop and will work well to clear up some space for me. I'll move the lathe and associated cabinets in there as well as all the sharpening stuff. I'll also still have a fair share of lumber storage in there as well.Yes, SRV stays.. I need to take care of the floor, add some lighting, and get the tools and stuff moved in. Couple days and this room should be up and running. Then, I can rearrange the current shop and start laying out for the new dust collection systemIt does move the awesome sharpening station that Eric built one step closer on my bucket list!

RichardA
Kev, you lucky devil, I'm so envious. Space, just what my 109 sq ft shop needs!... Good on ya!
estesbubba
Of course your shop is awesome but...SRV is more awesome. I actually washed his clothes, met him, and got 4 complimentary tickets when I worked in the hotel laundry where he was staying. Concert was in a small music hall and his incredible guitar playing sounded awesome - a lot better than a big arena. You decide what cyclone you're getting yet?
Mick S
First time I saw him was he was double billed with brother Jimmy in a 200 seat dance hall in Lubbock, TX. Knocked my socks off. What a talent!

Popular Post Llama
Kev, we all know that when you say "a couple of days" you really mean that you made the decision to do it after lunch, and now you're enjoying your new space.
Chet
One of the things that always impressed me about SRV was his guitar playing looked so effortless compared to others. Very distinct sound to his music.

We got going just after lunch.. Had to tear out an entire mezzanine in the garage, haul that to the dump, clean out the other storage room and the shed to make room for the stuff in this room, then empty this room and prep for flooring, and then one more trip to the dump.. And still done in time for dinner and the Hawks game! Will take me another day or 2 to get the shop back in working order again..

wtnhighlander
One of the things that always impressed me about SRV was his guitar playing looked so effortless compared to others. Very distinct sound to his music. When I first attempted to learn to play, I watched a lot of footage of live concerts, including SRV. I noticed that he often played an entire song, using just a one-finger bar across the neck. I later read that he used an altered tuning to make that work. It appears he was not only a very talented player, but a wiley one as well.
Eric.
Man I envy you. I wish I could just wave my magic wand and *poof* here's a whole new shop space plus Stevie Ray Jesus watching over my tools.Looks like a great space for the lathe. I so wish.
..Kev
I could say "poof" 1 or 2 more times but, I'd have to sell off a bunch of stuff that I don't want to.. First up was taking care of the floor and light.. Still have one more light to add but, I'll pick that up later today or tomorrow.Got the lathe where I wanted it and got most of the lumber back in. ..Kev
Went ahead and rearranged the tools in the shop with my new found space. Will test drive this for a bit before deciding if it's what I want before ordering the DC system. Back to the lathe room tomorrow.
