Mick S
Ooooooooooo, pretty! Awesome bookmatch if you can resaw it!I could have sworn I replied to this earlier, but the post disappeared. Anyway, If I take about 2" off the right side I can resaw it into two 1/4" thick finished panels. I'm going to sit on it for a few days before deciding what to do with it. I bought about 60 bf of this ambrosia maple to use as drawer fronts on the dresser, but I'll probably use two of the boards as side panels on the bookcase coming up. I chose to look at this piece firstSome of the boards are 14 - 15" wide. I HAVE to get the smoothing plane on order ASAP. Alison reminded me that I haven't made my birthday list for her, yet. Couple of months away still, but nothing wrong with an early one! What did it look like before? It was the very bottom of the middle board. Looked pretty boring compared to the rest of the figure and color, which was why I wanted to hit it with a plane first just to make sure everything was set properly.
Brendon_t
Wow man looks awesome. I've gotta be honest, I've never seen ambrosia maple boards longer than about 3'. Where did you go for those full planks?
mat60
I think I have never seen ambrosia maple ever..But I can see that was a great find..Good deal for you.
Brendon_t
Great deal indeed. At woodcraft when they do have the short pieces, they're like $30.
Coop
They're like $8 or $9 bf at Rockler and they have 8' lengths.
