Fxguy
Hello everyone! So for my first big project I decided to build my kids a rocking horse. The rockers and platform are made of maple, the rest of cherry. I cut the rockers out a little over size, then clamped them together and trimmed them up on the bandsaw. Then as I started to sand them down, I noticed that they are a little rounded crosswise. So what would be the best way to square them the length of the rocker curve? Thanks!! davewyo
You could possibly make a template traced from the rockers, double stick tape it to the rocker, and then use a flush trim bit in a hand held router or on a router table. wtnhighlander
What Dave said, but on the bottom edge, don't you want them rounded anyway?
Fxguy
? they are rounded lengthwise, but also crosswise, kind of like a hockey skate. So there is a bit of a ridge down the center of the rocker Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Immortan D
Once you established what needs to be removed (the hard part) you can use hand planes.
Andy Wright
I would second the suggestion of making a template and then trimming them with a router/router table. I always make my templates out of MDF because it is so easy to fine tune the shape with a file and sandpaper.
krtwood
How rounded are we talking here? You created the rounding with sanding, you can fix it with sanding. Clamp the two together and use a sanding block or sandpaper glued to a larger flat surface. A little bit of rounding isn't a big deal.
