N00b-in-training
What wood is this? Grabbed it out of the scrap bin at Woodcraft and then my phone rang and my wife checked out for me so I didn't have an opportunity to ask. Thanks!! wdwerker
Could be paduak. I just took a look at an old piece I have and the grain and color look just like it. Cut it and the fresh wood should be much brighter /orange ish
Eric.
Yep, agree with Steve. That board has been sitting around for a while so it lost its vibrant orange, but those big, long pores are a dead ringer for padauk. If you do slice off a piece, take a whiff...if it smells like Grandma's perfume...padauk.
Trip
padauk
Janello
Looks a little more like Bloodwood than Padauk to me. But I say that with some uncertainty.

Brendon_t
Another padeuk vote. Be advised, no matter how good your dc is, cutting or sanding that stuff will propel fine orange dust Everywhere.
N00b-in-training
Thanks all. After sanding it is definitely orange, Padauk it is I guess.I'm pretty bummed though, I was making some through tenons with wedges with it and one of the tenons snapped off after i was done dry fitting.
