Bombarde16
Taking some time to clear through a backlog of turning blanks that have been drying for a while. This is from a log left by a tree trimming crew on the 16th hole of the disc golf course at Buchmiller Park in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Split it and roughed it as two separate bowls, then put them back together with a layer of cedar in between to create a hollow vase. wtnhighlander
That's a very clever design, I like it!
Chet
I like the way the grain works between the top and bottom. Nicely done.
Brendon_t
Was the Cedar belly band put in there to get the form you wanted?

Bombarde16
Was the Cedar belly band put in there to get the form you wanted? Partly. Working things down means that you're losing material in the middle. Gluing the two halves back together with nothing in between would highlight that fact. Putting a layer in between helps disguise the fact that the grain match is close but not exact. That, and I had a wide piece of half inch cedar that was sitting around saying "use me."
