FlyinFish
I really love the interior trim in our 1928 bungalow. Very simple, yet just enough detail. The molding is not one I can find anywhere locally, at least not without requiring a special order run with the right knives that ends up costing way too much. The main floor trim is in great shape, but I want to make a matching medicine cabinet and also finish the attic rooms with the same trim. So, I bought a router bit and decided to test things out with a simple picture frame for the wife.I also wanted to test out some of the Sherwin Williams trim paint I got and my painting skills. So, I got some 1x and 5/4 poplar and got to it... after putting it off since last Christmas. The 1x's are lap jointed and the molding is mitered. I put my miter sled to good use.I didn't take any pics of the molding, but it's a rounded cut on top and a rabbet underneath to sit over the 1x's. Nothing too complicated.Three coats of the fancy SW trim paint. Didn't bother with any primer. My buddy was also borrowing both my orbital and finish sanders, so I got a bit lazy doing the sanding by hand. And the finished product. Poster is of pomegranates, a symbol of life, marriage, fertility, etc. for my peoples (Armenians). Now to move on to putting off doing the bathroom and attic... Cliff
That's pretty nice. Went better than the frame I made a few months ago - that I've yet to get glass for.
