Brendon_t
So I've never used any type of poly finish on any project worth a crap. I am finishing up a drawing table for my daughter and think it needs a film layer over the ARS to protect it from crayon/asker marks. Would some zar poly over cured ARS provide that? Eric.
ARS is poly. Add more ARS if you want more protection.
Brendon_t
I thought ARS was a thinned varnish. . Again with not using poly for years, last time I used it, it was a thick film, as in able to have bubbles thick
Eric.
I thought ARS was a thinned varnish. . It is. Poly is varnish. It will take a few more coats to build a thicker film with ARS because, like you said, it's thinned. The advantage is that you won't have bubbles or hideous streaks and you can control exactly how thick you want your film to be.

estesbubba
Yup ARS is a thinned poly varnish AKA wiping varnish.
