Lee Bussy
I am going to be working on my table-top later today and I need some wood filler that will sand and finish along with the wood. Can someone recommend a good brand that I might be able to actually find around here? There are some small pin-knots that I need to fill, and some larger ones on the back side. The wood is QSWO and I will be staining it somewhat dark (Onandoga for those familiar with Stickley). I was planning on taping around the spot to be filled to prevent "smear" and then sanding it back. Any other things to worry about?
davewyo
I have used Timbermate. You may be able to find it at your local lumber yard, paint store, etc.

Lee Bussy
It's available in town @ Woodcraft so I'm golden.
Lee Bussy
Thanks Mike. I don't think I have anything large except for a knot in the back. Would the filler plain not work there, or would it just look better (not a huge concern underneath)?
bgreenb
+1 on timbermate. Works great as a pore filler too if you ever need to go that route on a future project.
Lee Bussy
I picked up some of that and some epoxy while I was at Woodcraft today.
wdwerker
Timbermate works well but it smells funny, like borderline nauseating funny.

You know I JUST came in from the garage wondering if my container went bad. Good timing!
sheperd80
I think Timbermate smells oddly similar to Chloraseptic. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk
