I know, I've actually been to Haiti - 2 months before the earthquake. It's been years and it's still bad there.

Unless you go to Labadee, Haiti. Which is owned by Royal Caribbean. It's like sticking Disney World in Beirut, and looks strikingly similar to those photos.

My parents made several mission trips to Haiti in the 80s. It was bad loooooong before the earthquake. I used to joke about how bad it must be when the local blood services place asked "Have you EVER been to Haiti?" as a disqualifying donor screening question. Nowdays, they ask that about nearly 1/4 of the globe.

Living in Kansas, it is impossible to escape weather of any kind.

Weather here is just a case of "mind over matter", just make up your mind that it don't matter.  (You can't change it anyway.)

I live in the "TOO" state. It is too cold or too hot or too windy or too dry or too wet all the time.

If you don't like the weather here, just wait a few hours, it will change.
