Popular Post Andy Wright
Let me start with a caveat. The pictures below include two things that aren't always popular on this forum - PAINTED WOOD and RECLAIMED LUMBER. If either of those things offend you then stop reading When we decided to gut our 30 year old master bath, I hired a contractor for the project but I decided to do the cabinets myself. They are painted poplar and plywood. I also installed the reclaimed longleaf pine halflap siding. There are still a few thing left to be done (clear coat on the pine, glass around shower, mirrors, touchup), but its getting close
xxdabroxx
Nice job on the cabinets, after building my own vanity recently I know how much work it can be.
mat60
Ya...They look very nice and I like it that you run the faceframe to the floor.

Cliff
Looks great. My understanding is painting poplar is about the only way to finish it that looks good.

shaneymack
Looks fantastic. You did the built in and the vanity? What about the podium panels? Im not a fan of the whole rustic thing for furniture but I think what you did there is awesome. And its not palletwood, there's another plus!! Sent from my SM-N910W8 using Tapatalk I did the built-in, two vanities (his and hers), and the tub skirt. It turned out to be a lot of work. The rustic wood is longleaf pine paneling (definitely not palletwood and definitely not free), but the look of the 90 year old naturally aged pine is something you can't buy from home depot
Just Bob
Outstanding and I dig the shower! I am sure the reason you did it is to save water. How responsible

The shower is 5'x5', so plenty of room for more than one person if you catch my drift... I'm planning to do a wipeon poly on the pine paneling
Coop
Andy, if you did all of that, then a disclaimer about the paint is not necessary. Helluva a job!
..Kev
Super nice job Andy! I'd like a bathroom like that in my house!
wtnhighlander
Andy, that looks great! One question about the shower- how well do the half-walls hold in the splashed water?

Andy Wright
Shaneymack is correct - we are still waiting for the glass company to make the enclosure. We are actually using the shower now but you have to keep the shower heads aimed just right so the water doesn't get on the floor
boelkers
Thats a nice looking bathroom. The cabinet and the builtin look fantastic!
bgreenb
Looks awesome Andy. I've got a bathroom reno planned in the next couple months. Did you have to do anything special in terms of water pressure to both showerheads? What size supply pipes do you have feeding them. Really nice job. One shower head was already in that location from the old shower, so we added a second head by adding a T to the supply line coming up from the slab. All of the piping is 1/2" copper. As far as pressure, our water pressure is set to 75psi (I know this because the pressure was too high at 100psi from the city, and we had to install an adjustable pressure regulator a year ago). We get plenty of water flow through the two heads
Tom King
Looks great. I like walk-in showers. I stopped putting curbs at shower doors a long time ago.
