Popular Post Gixxerjoe04
Finally got some benches done that I feel like I've worked on alllllll year long. I used @thewoodwhisperer plans which were nice, I didn't do the "fancy" version because I got lazy and wanted to get them done. They're for my friend for his gym, I used system three marine varnish which I wasn't a fan of because I had to brush it on and I just suck at it haha. Used my domino for the joinery, made my own dominos for the leg to apron pieces, wanted to make sure they were beefy enough. The glue up of the tops were difficult with so many slots to get glue in quickly, had my wife help with that. They aren't perfect but I'm happy with them and learned a lot making them since most of the stuff I've made have been small items.
wtnhighlander
Those look great to me! What's the difference in th 'fancy' version?
wdwerker
Looks good to me ! Sign it and date it. Add UMHW pad feet to extend the life of outdoor furniture. Making your own domino stock isn't that hard and you can make 3 different widths for each bit dia. Plus cut different length tenons.

Gixxerjoe04
The fancier version had curved slates and some tapered legs, would have been a lot more work and I thought it looked good enough without it. I ordered some rubber pads for the bottom to prevent it from scooting around and keep any water off the bottom. The pads I ordered don't have a sticky side for some reason, supposedly they work so well it's not needed but I'll probably use some epoxy to stick them on perhaps. When I screwed the tops on and set them on the ground, there was a rock in it and my heart sank into my stomach. Realized my concrete floor probably wasn't flat, put it on a table which seems to be perfectly flat and it was fine, hoping the floor where it's going is flat haha
