Popular Post Llama
It is here!!! After about six long months of waiting, I finally have my HP-9! Nice packaging! This thing is so sweet! Reminds me of a space craft from Star Wars... Life kit, installed!

Chestnut
Are you going to use it? I'm too frugal to buy anything that someone would lust over.

I'm gonna use this thing just like any other tool I own. Which really means very little, and only on weekends and special occasions... Just kidding, I'm gonna use the hell out of this plane!

It's a dual-angle block plane. The blade comes stock with a blade that has two angles on it. 2 minutes ago, JosephThomas said: Which space craft specifically? People asked if they gave it to me because I've bought so much from them lately... I just laughed. Joe, the book is around $50 plus shipping. I had it hidden away on the shelf until this thread... now I have browser tabs open on $2700 planes. Enough cruising around on that website and the $399 planes start to look reasonable! Seriously enjoy that new tool. There's a great quote from Economaki in the book: "Quality is contagious. Nothing is more important to a woodworker than his tools. If you owned a tool chest full of well-crafted tools, how could you possibly justify doing shabby work? You dishonor your tools, you dishonor yourself."
Woodenskye
Mel. Glad it finally arrived, and oh that isn't a plane, that is a fighter jet

estesbubba
Very cool looking tool! Can we see some shavings please? Maybe take one of Tom's chopsticks down to a toothpick?

Far too versatile, and besides it doesn't fit in the box with the depth skids... Most of this has been captured in other threads, but if anyone wants more info on anything here I'll be more than happy to help out if I can. Three planes on a mission!

RichardA
And I thought the "green" addiction was bad! This sucks you into a wormhole that even a second mortgage won't fix!
estesbubba
Now you're just showing off and it's awesome. These tools are definitely unique and cool looking. So how do you change it to higher angles? I think you should do a live Google Hangout on air to show these off.

Trip
==>Ask, and receive. Hummmmm, that's a lot of asking... I'm jealous --- not about the planes --- but that you won't drop them off the bench! If I had anything like that, a sander hose would suddenly swoooooosh across my bench (by itself, you understand) --- and all that steel hits the floor... Those shop gremlins get me every time...

I think BCTW planes are more likely to survive accidents unharmed than traditional cast-iron planes.
