davewyo
I picked up a stick of "curly" Redwood from the big box store. Although I suppose that the forces which cause figuring in lumber can occur with any kind of tree, I had not seen curly Redwood before. I'll probably make a decorative box from it. http:// http://
Chestnut
Wow that's awesome. I have some really old reclaimed redwood boards but nothing looks near that.
elrodk
Great find. I always take a quick look at the maple because sometimes you find some figure in the "plain" boards. My local big box doesn't carry redwood. Never thought you would see something that nice outside of a hardwood dealer. Sent from my SM-N910W8 using Tapatalk Unfortunately no. I shuffled through the stack looking at the side grain for the tell tale tear-out. One other board had a smidgen of possible figure, but nothing at all like that one stick. It's 5/8"x6"x6' S4S ($12.49+tax) with some sap wood on one edge and a knot or two. I have never purchased lumber from the big box except some aromatic cedar for a blanket chest. It says it's kiln dried and it's pretty flat right now. We'll see what happens with potato chipping.
