Hand held metal detector for wood

We can't currently get the Lumber Wizard in the UK. The Garrett one they use at airports looks very good but is expensive. Not really interesting in the mine detector type. Jointer blades are relatively cheap but time spent installing a new set is long for those of use still on straight cutters. Anybody recommend any other brands specifically for woodworking use?

I just use a regular metal detector.  I've had it so long I don't even remember what brand it is.  I needed to find some metal surveying stakes, and it was cheaper to buy a metal detector than pay a surveyor.  It looks like this one, and does a good job finding metal in wood.

Just like my moisture meter, I use it so seldom that I take the batteries out when I'm not using it.

I use a 5/8 " dia ball magnet. No batteries to worry about. Just roll it along the edge or face and it will stop over each nail. Also great for finding the nails/screws in drywall. 

I use it to find out where the last nail went when the nail gun runs out and I kept right on thinking it was still shooting .

Can you order online from Harbor Freight.  They have a fairly inexpensive handheld metal detector that should work fine for your use.
