Shop organization

Someone started a topic about organizing sockets. I liked seeing all the different ways that people organize them. I was thinking that it would be cool to see how everyone organizes their shop. Whether its sand paper or handheld power tools. I think everyone should post pictures of how they organize.

I'd post photos, but nothing is organized. I am planning on stealing ideas from you guys HAHA

I was just going to start a thread on this subject but yours will do nicely.

For a while, I've had a 4 X 8 "pantry" where I kept paint, chems, and small parts bins.

Unfortunately, I found that the 32 sq ft it was taking up too much space in my two car garage. It's been so bad that I have to crawl under my TS when I'm set up for a long crosscut.

But what to do with all of this?

Using modified plans from Home Handyman, I built roll-out shelves that hang from paired-up Johnson pocket door tracks and rollers. Each track and roller is rated for 200 lbs. Paired up, it gives me 400lbs.

I just hung and plumbed the cabinets today.

I've regained about 24 sq ft of floor space, and the space I am using is being used more efficiently.

Paints and chems will take up two cabs, and small parts tote bins will go in the third. The fourth will keep any coiled items like cables, wire, hoses, etc.

Next step is to complete the trim and a couple coats of urethane.

ETA: The first three cabinets are built so that items are stored and accessible from both sides. The cable cab is full depth.

That is impressive! What is the overal dimensions for it?

Well i was going to post a couple things but anything I've done is going to look childish compared to that. Nice work @Nestor those cabs looks awesome

Post! I'd like as many ideas as possible. How people store crosscut sleds. Table saw blades. Any, and everything that has a place to get stored, is like to see. Because very few things have a place on my shop!

My drill and impact driver just set on my utility bench because I use those a lot for other, non woodworking projects.  I have three pad sanders that live in a cabinet above that bench along with a cubby set up for five different grits of sandpaper cut to size for the sanders.  In a cabinet next to that I have on one self all my glue up stuff - Glue, wax paper, acid brushes, brayer for rolling glue.  Shelf above that has just some old coffee cans with different size biscuits and the biscuit jointer is in its box under the bench.

Chet you've taken tool organization to a whole new level! And everything looks so clean!

Yea Daniel I tend to clean up at the end of each day... for whatever reason.  I don't think I am quite OCD but close

Hand power tools each plugged in at all tines. Yes that is 11 outlets, power strips are expensive, outlets not so much.

Clamps all hang from strips from the ceiling.

@Chestnut, don't be surprised if you see me stealing your idea for storing clamps. My ceiling in my basement is unfinished, and they are pretty low. Although I currently have a clamp rack, I have outgrown it.

I'm as out of place reading this thread as a Baptist preacher would be in a bar reading a Penthouse mag. The only thing organized in my shop is a set of drill bits that hasn't been opened yet!

You and me both. Which is why I made this thread. I need as many ideas as possible

Yea I am super happy with the incra kit. the fence adjust in 1/32 increments and there is an additional adjustment wheel that adjust 1 thou per click.
