Kel
I tried to sand out a discoloration on s clean oak threshold. Should have known better. I stained the entire piece but the sanded area did not accept stain the same as the rest of the piece. So far I've tried just adding stain to the light area. Not sure if this will work. Help. Popular Post wtnhighlander
You sanded the discolored area more than the rest of the piece, I assume. I suggest going over the entire piece, starting with a lower grit, maybe 80. Then work up through the grits, 80, 100, 120,150, 180. For oak, 180 should be high enough. Each time, removing the sanding scratches from the previous grit. Don't worry, it gets quicker with each higher grit. Then apply the stain evenly over the entire piece.
wdwerker
Wtnhighlander is so right, sand through the grits before staining. If it's a threshold and you are trying to get it dark stop at 150 grit sanding with the grain.
AceHoleInOne
Do you know what caused the stain? What is "s clean oak?" How big is the area? -Ace-
