These are not large orders; perhaps $250 each. In every case I have been happy with the product. In each case the lumber has been exactly as described on the web site. If it says "minor checking", "worm holes", or "1/16" twist", then that's what you get. In my last order there was a stick of Zebrawood that was listed as defect free but came in with nearly every wonky defect you can imagine. It was bowed, twisted, and what I can only describe as curved (not straight-line ripped). To be honest, the board may not be cupped, but it's hard to tell with all the twist. It was only an $18 stick of wood, but I wrote to Eric P. at Bell Forest and he quickly replied. He apologized for the discrepancy between the description and the actual lumber. He explained that the lumber must have moved after it was graded and offered me several ways to remedy the situation. I could have a refund, credit for a future purchase, or choose another stick of Zebrawood as a replacement. I chose another piece and he sent it out (free of charge) immediately. He also told me to keep the wonky lumber; maybe I could make some drawer pulls or something... This is the kind of customer service that aspiring lumber suppliers should emulate. While I have 2 good suppliers that can usually order in what I need, I am hitting a project they can't get what I need through their suppliers. My first thought was, "Crap, now I have to stick my neck out with a mail order supplier." My second thought was, "I wonder how Bell Forest is?" I guess your story answers my question. We're happy to hear that the blanks were replaced and the new pieces met your expectations. All of our handpicked boards get listed with an individual note if any defects are present, but we aren't able to do that with our stock items. Occasionally pieces move/twist/cup and may not be usable. If you ever get into a spot where the lumber/blank wasn't what you were expecting, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us! When we run promotions, we receive a tremendous amount of orders. As you may imagine, we are unable to maintain our 2-3 day turn around times. It may be closer to 3-4 days, when a promotion is going on for us to get everything going.
