Damaged Dado Set

Recommended Posts

This happened last summer.  I can't explain it exactly, my best guess at the time was the arbor nut wasn't tight enough and the two outer blades had a little wobble, causing them to smack into each other.  All I'm sure of is that it was very loud, very scary, and I peed a little.

On this one blade, half the teeth are chipped or completely sheered off.  The other blade is fine.

Is it trash or can it be repaired?

I sent a forrest WW II off for replacement of 1 tip and the guy i talked to said it was not only possible but should come back good as new. I have yet to see the blade yet but there are a lot of places that offer carbide repair. They charge for repair per tooth so it might not be worthwhile to replace the carbide. 1 tooth and a sharpen cost me $14.
