Popular Post ..Kev
As I've stated in a few other threads, I'm upgrading the dust collection in my shop. It's taken me quite a while because I needed to make sure that my work flow was where I wanted it before pulling the trigger on ordering the system. So, after several change ups in equipment locations and test driving for a while, I think I have it.. System is ordered. Clearvue CV1800 with the over sized impeller and Nordfab 7" ducting. Yep, buy once cry once. It's not here yet and I may have to travel for work again before it's complete but, the journey has started. The first item up was electrical. I have a 24' X 28' garage that's attached (L shape) to my shop which is where the machine will live. I have a 50 amp sub panel out there but, nothing is wired for 220. The electrician was in today to get the list of parts he needed to set up the electrical. The cool part is that he really liked the Christmas gifts that I turned as they were still all out on my bench.. Worked out to be a cool trade.. He'll do the electrical in exchange for a couple of the Christmas gifts that I made. I always order a few extra of those parts so, told him to pick out which species he wanted and I'd get them made for him. Machine is due here on the 24th and I'll try to get some pictures of that going in. Ducting will be a week or 2 after that.
Just Bob
Very cool. Did you order the ducting from Grizzly?

That's why it's a little behind the machine.
Just Bob
That is probably a good thing, I wanted to avoid the shipping costs, and used Grizzly, but they were back ordered on a lot of the fittings. Caused me to change the layout.
..Kev
Although I haven't seen the bill for the ducting yet, I suspect it will be more expensive than the machine was.

That's what happened for me - and I only ran a 6" main trunk!

If there are questions along the way about the cost, I really don't mind sharing. It is what it is and I suspect anyone else that called them to set up the same system would see the same numbers so, it's really not a secret
Brendon_t
Sweet man. You going to give us some in progress shots of it going in?

I have a lot of work to do on electrical and in my shop to get the system in.. My storage rack will have to be removed and possibly relocated so, that could be interesting.. Going to try and put the drops in so that I don't lose that wall but, the DC is the more important item.

Popular Post ..Kev
Well, here's the first of what I hope will be many "happy" surprises.. The system wasn't due here until the 24th but, arrived today. I won't get to it today but, plan on starting to install the motor tomorrow! Boxes appear to all be in great shape!
Woodenskye
Kev, congrats on the new DC. It almost reads like you placed the order 3 hours ago. Now I think we could all agree that would be considered extremely fast service.

Although that's not "3 hours" it is extremely quick service!

Janello
That's pretty much the same final thing I have to accomplish to fit out my shop. I can only imagine your excitement for this one. Total game changer there. Are you putting it in the other room that you don't use as much to keep the db/s down?

Tom Cancelleri
That's awesome Kev! I look forward to watching it all come together. I started prepping my ducting today. As a quick tip, Properly silicone during assembly, figure out orientation ahead of time, because when you're siliconing the blower housing to the cyclone body, there's not much changing it after that without major headache. Also, make sure that the motor is set to spin the right way, this is done in the motor's wiring box. The guy I bought mine from had his motor spinning the wrong way, which really reduced efficiency.
Popular Post ..Kev
Well, I was fortunate to have dinner company tonight that was very interested in the new system so, had some extra hands. Got the motor assembled and ready to go up on the wall. The cyclone and impeller housing are just set on at this point and not in their final location. I'll get the wall bracket mounted tomorrow and silicone up all the gaps per the manufacturer's recommendations. More progress tomorrow!
..Kev
Well it looks like Tom's a bit ahead of me but, here goes the machine mount! This is the back wall of my garage which is directly behind my jointer and lumber rack on the other side. This is where it will live. I removed some of the Tyvek to be sure that I was attaching to a 2 X 6. Bracket is in. Ready for the machine and the electrician! Will be a while before more pics as I need to silicone all the little gaps.
