Popular Post ncfowler
The other week a friend asked me how much would it cost to mount some racks he had laying around his garage, NO these are deer antlers, since I am allowed to hunt on his property I told him I would just do it, for never doing it before it came out pretty nice used Cedar for the base and black velvet, I also built up the base of the rack with plastic clay to follow the bottom of the base. these are from the first buck he has ever got, the smaller one was almost 6 years ago and the larger on was from this year, end of season,

ncfowler
the plastic clay after baking is hard enough to screw into, it is molded into the skull cavity and shaped down into a V making a smooth transition to the base, What I done was push the rack into the clay and shaped it, let it set and removed the extra clay from the under side, removed it and baked pre instructions, let set over night after baking it is hard as most therm plastics, I then glued the plastic to the skull ( you need to remove the skull before baking) cover it with velvet and screwed from the back side

Brendon_t
Great job. I'm planning on making a few from the last two bucks I shot. One was in Missouri, the other Kentucky. I'm thinking to build the plaques in the shape of the state. Thanks for the clay trick idea.
