wdwerker
Looks like you are getting the hang of it ! If you weigh the bowl on a digital kitchen scale and track the weight when it stabilizes you can lightly reshape a bowl turned from green or air dried wood .It helps if you leave the walls and lip a bit thicker in case drying leaves the bowl slightly oval shaped. wtnhighlander
Nice job, Vinny! What species is that?
wouldwurker
Poplar...which makes it even better for practice! Yeah Steve, I left the walls way too thin...hopefully by blank #5 I'll get it down. This one flew across the room on a catch....which was fun. That lathe shook like all hell though with a big unbalanced blank on it. Need to either get some ballast weight under it, or tapcon the feet to my basement slab
wdwerker
I used a scrap of ply on the shelf then bags of concrete mix double wrapped in trash bags to ballast it before. Then I used the concrete mix at home....
trialbyfire
Tapcons... There's just something about driving a screw into concrete that makes me like a man... Lol Good looking bowl there
wdwerker
A piece of hard rubber under each leg before you screw it down would reduce vibrations. Adding weight would help as well.
