Popular Post treeslayer
this is a jewelry box i built for my granddaughter, walnut case with figured oak top and drawers. i used sliding dovetails for the case construction and on the drawers, box joints for the doors and behind the bottom drawer i placed a musical movement that plays "greensleeves" when you open the drawer. thanks for looking and as usual comments, questions ect. are welcomed
shaneymack
Great looking piece Dave ! You do great work sir! Are those metal pulls? Or you turned them? What finish? I'd love to see a video of how it works with the song. Really cool! Sent from my SM-N910W8 using Tapatalk
treeslayer
thanks shane. metal pulls, not my first choice but got overruled by the wife, the sad thing is she didn't want round pulls and i had i friend who was going to turn some for me then she picked round anyway, go figure. 4 coats of ARS satin for the finish. the movement is a Sanyo from Rockler just an adjustable arm to turn it on and off works great and simple. i used to be able to get movements from Reuge but they quit selling to the average guy a while back, they had a great selection of tunes. treeslayer
here's a view of the movement in the back of the box, really simple to install and the spring arm is adjustable to allow for when it turns on and shuts off
shaneymack
Thats cool Dave. So it activates upon opening the upper drawer? Or is that the bottom? Sent from my SM-N910W8 using Tapatalk
treeslayer
yep, plays when you open the drawer and likewise shuts off upon closing. nobody knows it's in there except us going to give it to her in about an hour, can't wait to see their faces when it starts up

sjk
Very nice @treeslayer! My wife has been hinting for one - I may have to move that up in the queue. Did you put any of the jewelry holder insert things in it? (those padded things for holding rings, earrings, etc). If you did - which ones?
