Grew up with a father who was a finish carpenter so I know some basics but I never had much interest in doing serious woodworking (I'm a programmer by day) until recently. Now, about 2 years later, I'm finding excuses to make all sorts of things in my messy garage shop and slowly upgrading my tools to meet my needs. I've been on the Woodworking subreddit for quite some time and have learned a lot and I'm looking for other places to connect with other woodworkers to share and learn together. So far I've been pretty lucky and managed to be involved in communities where everyone is good about offering advice and answering questions. That being said, there are a number of forums out there that I've found in various Google searches that seem to be filled with some rather rude folk, as well.
