MisterDrow
I'm building a couple desks for a friend and the tops are solid walnut. I'm finishing the glue-ups this weekend and will be ready to apply finish to seal them. I had originally planned to use waterlox but I've seen a lot online that suggests the newer formulas they offer are very difficult to work with. Any suggestions for this? treeslayer
haven't used waterlox Mister but i have used ARS as many others here have. if it were me i would probably build some coats with gloss or semi-gloss first 2-3 coats and finish with satin ARS. most desks usually have a pad of some type on them so you're not writing right on top of the wood or in the case of a computer some type of pad so as not to scratch the finish
MisterDrow
Looks like ARS is a tad cheaper, too. So I assume applying thin coats with a high-quality foam brush like w/ Waterlox?
Popular Post treeslayer
yes, thin coats, on pieces that are stained i don't usually sand until the second coat is on and sand to 320 between all remaining coats, good quality foam brush works but it can be wiped on with a clean cotton cloth. sand, dust off, finish, repeat until happy.
