Popular Post prov163
I've been working on a cremation cask for my good friend and fellow biker, Jay, who died suddenly at work a few weeks ago. He loved boxes, has them all over his house, and he loved red - both his Harley and his Big Dog were red. So I made this from Sapele and some spalted Ash I have been storing for about 20 years for a good cause. It's the first time I've worked with Sapele and it works pretty well, but I was blown away with the deep mahogany color after three coats of Poly. Anyway, I couldn't think of a better way to honor our friendship.

wtnhighlander
Sorry to hear about this, but I think you did a great job of providing a resting place for his remains. I'm sure his family is grateful.
prov163
Thanks guys. The box is pretty simple but I think these kinds of things should be understated. His widow is still reeling and in some denial - understandably. She couldn't bring herself to pick up Jay's ashes so I did it for her and interred them in the box. It's been a serious reminder of the precarious state of being human. On the ironic side, I'm building a queen size platform bed for Jay's newly married stepdaughter. Crazy.
