Popular Post JohnDe
I lost a good friend a few months ago at the young age of 41. He was a great golfer and father. He tried his hand at professional golf for a while but it kept him on the road and he didn't enjoy that. Anyway, he has 2 sons and he happened to have 2 sets of golf clubs. His brother had an idea to make a display case for his irons and then give them to his boys. He asked if I could tell him what tools he would need and I offered to help. I was honored to work with him to produce such a thoughtful gift. We decided on walnut. He didn't want the grips to show, but he wanted the clubs to be easily removed. The case has a removable section near the bottom that comes out by lifting the pins and the top section has 2 screws to remove that part. We had a photo printed on aluminum for durability and used rare earth magnets for closure of the unit. Before we installed the store bought knob for the door, I thought it would be fun to turn one out of walnut to resemble a golf tee. Strangely enough if you look at the first picture closely, I happened to catch my friend's reflection in the glass and he looks like he's standing right next to his brother.

gee-dub
Being able to get involved with things like this and share our skills is real gift for both parties. That is a beautiful remembrance; well thought out and executed.
