Ryan Grondin
Anyone use these or play around with them? I've been playing with it, and I find if I lightly wax my dowel, it threads alot smoother and with a lot less chance of a tear out or broken thread. OUCH ! Wdwerker, that's just sick. I knew there was something I liked about you. A few years ago I was at a place called Westville about a couple of hours from where I live. It's a reconstructed 1840's town. The had a cotton gin from that era. There was a huge wooden screw, about 20' long and 3' in diameter. It was broken but they told me they were having another one made. It was being hand carved by an 80 year old guy - the only guy left that still knew how to do it. They were afraid he'd die before he finished. Don't know the outcome but it was cool story.
Ryan Grondin
Wow, I cant imagine how time consuming it would be carving threads by hand lol.. that is a neat story though! and that's a huge thread!
