Popular Post Bombarde16
I made a set of these in spruce and now it's time to use something more formal. This is from the wreckage of a Norway maple that came down in a friend's yard back in March. I took some smaller branches, the trunk was a rotted out mess. I did fine sawing them into approximate blanks but learned the hard way that you shouldn't let direct sun hit wood that is trying to dry. Plenty of cracks, so I'll get lots of chances to practice tinting epoxy. These are upside down. All eight are shaped on the outside bottom. The feet give me something to grab with the chuck as well as determining the opening for the dish below. The band's are painted with cheap Crayola tempera paint. Finished with shellac and burnished with paste wax. Sent from my QTAIR7 using Tapatalk
Isaac
will you put these to use as regular dishes? How do they hold up? Are they really more bowls than dishes?

If they get used for food, it'll only be to dry bits such as nuts or candies. I'm actually making them for a friend's gaming habit, so they'll end up holding small figurines, dice and the like.
