Roubo Build Top (One Low Board)

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I put my last board on the front slab, dovetailed to the end cap and I noticed (after the fact) that the board bowed on me leaving the front left section (other end from the end cap) with a significant curve (see photo). As I see it I have two options:

1. Leave it and flatten the rest of bench to the lowest point.

2. route away that part of the front board creating a flat surface and gluing a patch, bringing it up to the level of the rest of the bench.

Thoughts/other ideas?

One more question.. After re-looking, I will have to take about an 8th off the top of the bench to match the low point. This includes an 8th off the the bench dog holes. Will the dogs be strong enough with an 8th of their "heads" chopped off? I assume I will have to shorten their heads because they will have to sit in a hole an 8th shallower then expected. Any issues with this?
