Popular Post MattF
My father sent me two of my Grandfathers old Stanley planes, block plane and a No 5. Not sure of the age, but I would like to date them when I have the time. I cleaned up the block plane recently. The iron is pretty pitted and would like to purchase a new at some point, but she works pretty good for now.
Ronn W
I like it. Tools that were my fathers or grandfathers are important to me, too.

These are the most valuable tools, too me, that I own.

Yeah, I've got several of my grandfather's tools that I use regularly. He was an awesome guy and craftsman and every time I use them I hope I'm doing him justice. Hope my grandkids feel the same way when I pass his and mine down to them
Daniel Kuehl
I checked this one out in John Walter's Type Study found in his book. It looks to me like it's a Type 23 estimated to have been made circa 1956 to 1959. It's a nice plane and you should be able to find a good replacement cutter at a reasonable price. Most of my grandpa's tools aren't usable anymore, but I'll never get rid of them...it's too hard to let go of the things he touched.
