Popular Post Andy Wright
I saw a youtube video on powered speakers here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFssovcoqpg and decided to build my own version. I used the same dimension as as he used in the video, but I recycled speakers from an old set of Polk Audio bookshelf speakers I hadn't used in several years and I used different electronics that had a bluetooth interface and the amplifier combined in a single circuit board (electronics were around $35 total on Amazon). The box for the speaker is made from wenge and soft maple with a plywood back. Overall it was a neat project and the speaker sounds great. It is easy to connect to with blue tooth and you use the volume controls on your smartphone to control the speaker. I made this one for my wife, but i have been asked to make a three more for my kids so I will post those when they are finished
