Chud
So... I got a job lot of small chunks of hardwood off gumtree for £10 (plus a couple of 3.5mm sheets of maple): https://goo.gl/photos/j6KRQYfgRjio6h3U9 No idea on wood ID though - think 2, 3 &4 going R-L are hard maples, 5 oak, 7 walnut?? Any ideas?

Eric.
You're gonna need to give us much better pics if you want good guesses. The only one I know for sure is the far right is walnut. Otherwise it looks like ash, ash, ash, maple, oak...but who knows from that one picture. Too far away.
Chud
Ok I'll take some close ups! Try this link - images titled by number... https://goo.gl/photos/Zo1eiDR5hK2bYu9q7 I think the 'maples' have come out a bit under exposed in the close ups... If the shots are still no good I'll dig out the proper camera to take some manual exposure shots. BonPacific
Definitely cedar on #1. #2 looks more like Ash than Maple.
Chud
I should add my exposure to maple is limited to the guitars that I've bought so not a lot!
