Ronn W
Has anyone actually ever used these. Lee Valley set of 3 for $36. I know they usually have good stuff but this seems awfully cheap. I need a small round spoke shave for my twisted leg project. Whaddaya think?
Brendon_t
I think with a 3" overall length, barely a finger will fit on each side..
Eric.
I'd rather have a pair of nice spokeshaves than three junkers. Buy a flat and a convex. You don't need a round one unless you're an old school chair maker.
Cochese
Those would be good it you're making chairs for elves.
TerryMcK
They're modelmakers/instrument spokeshaves. I've seen similar sized tools used for detailing on violin making. Despite what they say about them being ideal for patternmakers and cabinet making you need to use full size ones for those applications. If you are knocking out violins buy the set. Ronn W
Here is a rough sample. I want to make 4 of these as part of legs for a table and I am afraid that a full sized concave spoke shave will be too big.
mkrusen
I actually have an old set of brass instrument spokeshaves very similar to those. I've used them for very small pieces like box legs and intricate handles. Definitely one of those tools meant for very specific tasks. For the legs you're wanting to make, you'll want to get to full size spokeshaves. Can't beat Veritas for the price.
