comp56
going to make 4 of these 2 for my jointer/planer and 1 each for my table saws..... starts off with some birch plywood strips I doubled up the plywood by gluing it together and cut out and sanded a handle... I then glued and screwed the handle to the first layer of base....counter sinking the screws I then added a second layer with screws and glue again.... the back end is where the magic is, I can have the push block straight up to push wood or when I come to an end of a board I made it so a stop with drop with gravity, this way there was no fussing with nuts and adjusting.... here it is all finished with a couple coats of rubbed wax and of course I had to come up with a name..... here is how it works....just put GbloX on the board and push away or when needed the back end drops from gravity for extra pushing ability.... I also put a non-slip bottom on it as well..... more handles in the making........
..Kev
Pretty cool ! No issues with the metal fasteners near your blades?
wtnhighlander
Good idea! I am concerned about the fasteners too, but they could be replaced with nylon screws, or even dowels. This style of block can work on the tablesaw, as well, but the sole would be considered sacrificial.
Brendon_t
Cool little project. I use a similar shop made solution without the gravity assist. The rear toe is sacrificial and whenever it is really chewed up, I joint the whole sole and just glue a new kick on.
Dknapp34
Neat idea! How did you do the lettering on the push block?

Eric.
What are the little white button-looking things?
comp56
thanks to all, actually these are not to be pushed through any cutting, for planer it would be all on top of wood just keep pressure on knives on table saw I would only use this to push stock with blade past not ever under @wtnhighlander your right it can easily be modified ..... @Mike no this is just for my own use/shop just something to do with free time and scraps.... @Eric the white buttons are screw covers @shaneymack GbloX is just a name I came up with for fun (Gravity Blocks) @Dknapp34 I have a 34" vinyl cutter in my shop.....
