Popular Post Ryan.
I have always wanted to build the gaming table from the guild, but my current housing situation prevents me from having such a large dining table. I opted to go for a coffee table design instead. The design is based off the guild gaming table with a few tweaks. This was my first unpainted project, also my first time working with rough lumber from a saw mill instead of s3s wood from Big Orange or Rockler. Finish Product Another photo before I got the lower lid attached. Due to my inability to drill a straight hole, I opted for a finger pull on the lid. Accessory rail. My fiance was impressed enough that I got approval for the barrister bookcase The ladies enjoying a game Cauldron Quest
shaneymack
This is awesome, Ryan ! Nice work. Do a project journal when you do the bookcase ! Sent from my SM-N910W8 using Tapatalk

Llama
I like this idea better than the larger version. Looks like your dog is enjoying it as well!
estesbubba
That turned out great Ryan. What did you use for a finish?
Elroy Skimms
Looks great. My next "just because" project might be a gaming coffee table as well. I got my daughter hooked on Catan Junior this weekend and Ticket To Ride: First Journey a couple of weeks back. I've had a design for a table in SketchUp for a couple of years now, just lacked the motivation to get to work. Daddy/daughter time is a good motivator! -E

bleedinblue
That's awesome! I actually think this is more functional for most people than the full kitchen table version.

MisterDrow
I'm going to be doing this exact thing here soon and yours is great inspiration! What are the final dimensions of yours? I had originally thought I'd do a square one to have more even playing space but it doesn't look bad at that size/shape.
Ryan.
Dimensions ended up at 30.5" wide by 49.5" long by 23" high. The play area is 25"x44"x2.5".
BillyJack
Turned out really nice................. I love making gaming tables. I've wanted to make a mah-jong table for a couple years but probably won't happen with all the other things I want or need to make
Al Capwn
Excellent work! It looks like you based it roughly on the Rift design. I am actually looking to do something very similar (compress the gaming table to coffee table size). Looks like some birds eye Maple on the rails, and Walnut edge trim on the center insert? For the bottom portion tray, it looks like you used piano hinge and fastened it to the center strip in the middle? Looks like it turned out really nice! Bankstick
That is a great looking table! My complements! When I saw that it was a game table, I was thinking in terms of "Jacks or better to open," or "Boxcars lose! OK, who will fade?"
