Popular Post Chestnut
I'm off to take the Professional Engineering exam tomorrow. To prepare for the night tonight i made a crate to carry all my materials there. As a 1 night project went it was fun to build this. I grabbed scraps from the scrap pile it was mostly cherry with some maple and sadly a couple piece of qtr sawn oak. I used some amber shellac to finish it. The amber shellac looks pretty good on the cherry. I'm worried about it being strong enough but it just needs to last me there . Sorry for the crappy pictures i couldn't be bothered to use my DLSR.

wdwerker
Good luck ! I hope you do well on the test . I used to make crates from scrap, first for 8 tracks, then cassettes and then CDs. Walnut and cherry were favorites . A little glue, some brass escution pins and a quick coat of Watco made a bunch of gifts.

I can see this being useful it'd probably make a good gift.

ClassAct
The book crate alone should get you a full grade bump on the exam. Good luck and knock 'em dead!

Bart
Hope your exam went well, and doing something relaxing the night before an exam is the best thing you can do. If you don't know the material by then, you should be worried.

RichardA
Ya done good, don't blow all your money on expensive wood, a stick of curly maple and some walnut. And you have an American engineer. We're proud to know you!

wdwerker
Be meticulous about blowing or vacuuming the walnut dust out of the maple pores before you finish. I have had it muddy up the maple a bit. Congrats on your accomplishment !
