Popular Post gee-dub
No matter how good the deal or how nice the material, some of us (read me) run out of room. All my stash spots are either at maximum space or weight capacity. I've even spilled over into other peoples garages that they strangely use to house their automobiles (madness). I knew I couldn't get any material but, I was in the area and just wanted to stop by and say hi . . . . yeah, . . . that's it, I was just going to say hi. Well, there was this board . . . . and she had a friend and they and their friends seemed awfully anxious to come home with me. No, really . . ..things like this happen to me allll the time. Well, I couldn't very well ask them to leave once they were here and told me they had nowhere else to go. I told them there was no room in the rack and that they would have to stand out front . . . they said OK. And that it. . . . No, really . . . . Alright, alright, you got me. There was a piece of lacewood I couldn't leave behind . . . it looked lonesome. ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT, I'LL ADMIT IT . . . . . They had curly maple . . . I am pathetic.

Brendon_t
I've just recently learned the amazing gratification from burning off cuts . . I get more room to store longer offcuts...
wtnhighlander
I spent my afternoon cutting "live" edges off of several walnut & cherry slabs, because I needed to recover some storage space. You are definitely not alone ...
Unknown craftsman
Jealous I am out if wood,I have one more bowl blank to turn and it's too heavy for my lathe. Last week the city took out a very big maple from the park on my street.College park. Man they had that thing down and stuff into a 40 yard dumpster before I could say Beetle juice three times. Jerks. Im done complaining. Soon I'll be out hunting pallets at night. Aj
Eric.
Nice haul, GD. Your lacewood looks more like leopardwood to me...same figure, darker color than lacewood.

Funny, I landed a lacewood board almost the same way. Went out for walnut (which I got), but the lacewood board was just so pretty and wanting to go somewhere. So I obliged

The weight and color are off for lacewood and I really probably shouldn't call it that just because they do . To prevent me from steering other wrong through my loose talk . . .

TerryMcK
Hey GeeDub do they not have a branch (sorry) of Wood Collectors Anonymous near to you? I was also considering forming the English Wood Collective Self Help Group as a sub unit of the main organization.

Pwk5017
im in the same boat as far as storage is concerned. I currently have a stack of sapele 3' by 3' on my floor 15" from my assembly table. Just enough room to sneak myself in to glue up panels. I hate having lumber crammed into every available space, but i also hate having to wait on a project because i need to first order the boards and then wait for them to acclimate. I have so many 4' long 8/4 shorts of walnut laying around right now. They are all 12"+ wide and almost all defect free with little to no sap. I cant bring myself to sell them for $2bdft or whatever price shorts would fetch, because they are perfect for table/chair legs etc. Im nervous to even go the shed route, because it wont help the situation, only enable more hoarding.
