bbarry9999
While making a set of end tables I was gluing up 8 legs, when I contemplated putting multiple legs in the clamps at the same time. I don't have enough clamps to do all the legs individually at once. My my initial thought was that it should be ok, as long as I ensure there is no chance of the legs getting stuck to each other. However, after thinking about it for a bit, I decided not to stack the legs during the glue up (better safe than sorry). I ending up running to the store to get a few more clamps , and then glued up the legs in a couple of batches over the weekend. so the question is.... would I have been safe to group several legs in my clamps at once? The legs are 3x3". thanks BB
Immortan D
It depends on the clamps. With good quality parallel clamps (or maybe pipe clamps) you can stack them up, no problem. The glue shouldn't mess things up unless you applied the glue on the wrong sides...
..Kev
I stack them all the time. As long as your milling is good, there's no reason not to.
Chet
I have also stacked things when gluing. If you want to one extra cautious you can put wax or parchment paper between the sets.
MisterDrow
I stacked mine recently when I glued up some similarly sized legs. I did two legs per set of clamps due to capacity limitations but it worked very well.
AceHoleInOne
Yep...and I use wax paper between for glue squeeze-out. -Ace-
bleedinblue
Yup. You could make it a little less stressful if you start off a few inches longer than necessary, then drive some brads into the ends of the legs. It prevents slippage when setting them up in the clamps.
