Rio Camarillo
Sanded the floors with orbital sander started with the roughest grit moving to the finer grit as I read while doing research. Did the floor popping and conditioning. Applied the stain and it took unevenly. In the spots where the floor took uneven I tried Mineral Spirits and restained. No luck. It looked blotchy and too shiny. I'm now thinking I should sand down the whole floor. What grit do you recommend?
drzaius
What kind of wood?
Rio Camarillo
I believe the wood is primarily oak with maple and some other harder species in it. Was thinking of starting over and going from 36-50-80. Think this is a good idea?
xxdabroxx
80 seems pretty coarse. Pictures of the floor for reference?
Rio Camarillo
Had the floors stained and a majority of it turned out blotchy and uneven. used wood conditioner and left it on for 15min before staining. was wanting to resand and see if I can correct it. mat60
May look better with a lighter or no stain.
