Popular Post lewisc
I've been inspired by another thread to share some of the toy planes that I make. These are my keepers: I generally make them from Pine (with stained wings) if they are to be a gift because of the weight. I'm currently building another for a Christmas present that should be finished tomorrow. One day, I'll try to put together a journal that goes through the project for anyone interested. I've made up some MDF templates with all the markings for cutting and drilling. Each one is slightly different depending on the timber, how I shape some of the parts and if everything goes to plan or not.. The timbers used are Jarrah with Tas Oak parts, Blackwood with Huon Pine Parts and Huon Pine with Blackwood Parts. Everything is held together with Titebond II and screws. The only visible screws are on the bottom of the wings and the one holding the propeller in.
