Popular Post tech413
Hi all, figured I'd share my ongoing stair project. This is stairs in our new home that we are building ourselves. It's progressing a little slower than I'd like but still moving ahead. Sorry if this looks like a commercial for Festool Dominos but I love them! Posts are 6x6 pine, stringers are 3x12 pine and treads are hickory. I will update as the project progresses! tech413
I feel like a Festool commercial anymore! I have invested pretty heavy in them in the last year but it is really paying off. I love their stuff! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Coop
The last pic says it all. Some pretty tight joints going on there! Very well done! From the other pics, that's going to be a pretty neat house! How many sq. ft.? Ya'll are doing it all yourselves?
Popular Post wdwerker
So you dominoed the stringers and then cut the mortice to fit the treads ? Looks like the CYA type overkill I do just to make damn sure it holds up ! Looks great , thanks for sharing .

House is just over 3000 sq feet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk So you dominoed the stringers and then cut the mortice to fit the treads ? We plan to stay in this house forever! Don't wanna redo these! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Janello
Nice work. My buddy does custom interior railing builds, and owns an old metal jig for striger mortices. Did you use something shop made? They look surgical !

My buddy does custom interior railing builds, and owns an old metal jig for striger mortices. Did you use something shop made? They look surgical ! I made a jig out of MDF. I have a few different sets of stairs to make with different tread sizes so I wanted something cheap and easy. This is the only pic I have of it right now but you get the idea. Popular Post shaneymack
Great work ! Housed stringer WITH dominos, now thats what I call overkill. I love it! Popular Post tech413
Successful dry fit tonight and glued up some test pieces with some slow set epoxy to see how it works. It gave me a full hour of work time before it even started getting tough to move, should be plenty of time for glue up! Now just waiting on some more clamps to show up that I ordered. Then time to glue up set one of the stairs! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Tom King
Looks great! Housed stringers can't be beat for fit. I can't help but worry about the rise on the first step on the landing though. Is other flooring going on top of the landing?

Coop
Fantastic job! If the rest of the house is built with the same quality, several generations will be able to retire there.
