RR60
Tried something new on a very small project. Epifanes gloss varnish. But I did not thin. Had the product awhile but never tried it on anything. Playing around a little and gave it a try. Goes on very thick. Took a couple days to dry. But had a very, very high gloss. Almost like the pour on polyurethanes. Then one coat of miniwax poloy thinking it would be more durable. For a very high gloss is there anything wrong with this approach? Instead of these two coats I would have needed about 5 to 10 brush on coats to equal the gloss. But still not sure if a good idea. Thanks for any reply's or opinions
wtnhighlander
The only possible issue I can think of is that marine coatings are often designed to be more flexible that furniture finishes, so cracking of the poly layer may eventually happen. I have no direct experience with Epiphanes, though.
RR60
Yes, I wonder if that could be a problem. My sample test project was a floor console cup holder for my work truck. It is just the finish on this project ended up looking so good. I have spent much, much more time on a finish and still may not look quite this good.
